Whether you’re into Fashion, Design, Makeup, Lifestyle tips, Recipes & Cooking, or even Marketing & Sales, you are bound to find an influencer on different Social Media platforms that creates the content that you’re looking for. Social Media Platforms have seen tremendous change in the past few years, and have become more than a place for people to connect. Now, we are able to tag along on the daily lives of our favorite influencers and take a close look into their activities, as well as get tips and tricks about different topics. And because the number of people labeled as “Influencers” “Bloggers” or “Public Figures” has exceptionally increased in the last few years, INDEX Media decided to conduct a survey to understand followers’ behavior and preferences. We asked a large number of millennials who their favorite Arabic Influencer is, and the reason behind this preference.
Spiritual vs. Materialistic
Surprisingly, the majority of participants said that they prefer following people who promote and encourage positivity, self-love, mental wellness, and wellbeing. The majority of the votes mentioned two names, Dr. Ahmed Emara, and Ahmad Al Shugairi.
With an astonishing 12.2 million followers on Instagram, Ahmad Al Shugairi is one of the most influential and widely followed figure on Social Media in the Arab world. He is well known for spreading the message of kindness, unity, and positivity and always motivates his followers to make a difference in the world, which is the reason behind his popularity.
Another popular answer was Dr. Ahmed Emara, Mental Health Consultant, and motivational speaker, with training in Cognitive Psychology, Parapsychology, and Bioenergy. With a million followers on Instagram alone, and a large number of audiences who attend his lectures and training courses, Dr. Ahmed Emara aims to find a way to achieve happiness in a way that would resonate with people across the world from different backgrounds, cultures and religions. He is now considered to be one of the most influential motivational speakers in the world.
Various other influencers and public figures were mentioned, such as Lojain Omran and Radwa Al Sherbeny amongst many others.
What does this tell us?
With the limited time the modern lifestyle leaves for browsing Social Media, and the amount of unrest the world is witnessing right now, viewers are looking for content that encourages positivity and kindness, and people who promote self-love and provide tips on being more mindful and serene, while shying away from influencers who promote materialistic things and content without value.
Always make sure you take the time to reflect on the kind of content you are creating, and the effect it has on your viewers, society and the world.
